At latitude 52°, Desolation Sound is a narrowing inlet meandering into the coastal mountains of the 'sunshine' coast of Canada, a remote land of rocky islands, steep cliffs and deep water, unnamed creeks and waterfalls. The pristine waters of Desolation Sound are surrounded by steep evergreen mountains, carving out the majestic fjiords. One of the prime attractions of these waters is their warmth in summer months, which makes them ideal for swimming. This cruise will spend several days in Desolation Sound with plenty of time to kayak, swim and explore the area. Along the way, there will be time for fishing and lots of fresh seafood with meals!
Combine sail training and history and sail from Bellingham north in the Straits of Georgia through the Canadian Gulf Islands, along the wild west coast of Canada. You will become part of the crew by helping raise the sails, standing watches, charting your course, and taking the helm. Participation in sailing is only at your comfort level.
